ORN number in Dubai: what it is and how a brokerage gets one
An ORN is a real estate brokerage's office registration number in Dubai: the number that identifies the office, not any one agent, on the Dubai Land Department's records. The office is registered automatically when its brokerage licence is issued, and anyone can look it up in DLD's public list of licensed brokerage offices, where it appears as "Office Number".

What does ORN stand for?
ORN is short for office registration number. RERA's conditions for brokerage offices say the "office registration number and broker registration number" must be included in every real estate advertisement (RERA conditions, Trakheesi). The broker number is the BRN; the office number is the ORN.
There is one ORN per office, and it belongs to the company. Every broker card in that office sits under it.
How does a brokerage get an ORN?
DLD's FAQ says the office is registered automatically when its licence is issued, so no separate registration application is needed (DLD FAQ). In order:
- Get the trade licence with a real estate brokerage activity. DLD's FAQ says the licence is issued by Dubai Economy on RERA's conditions and takes 1 to 2 days when the documents are complete.
- The office is registered with RERA. This happens automatically when the licence is issued, and the office gets its office number.
- Register the brokers. Each agent then applies for a broker card in Trakheesi, which needs the office to be registered first (DLD brokerage practice guide, Nov 2024).
Opening the office from scratch is covered in how to open a real estate brokerage in Dubai.
What is an ORN certificate?
It is the office registration certificate. DLD's brokerage practice guide says Trakheesi, DLD's licensing system at trakheesi.dubailand.gov.ae, issues office registration certificates as well as professional practice cards (DLD guide). The certificate is managed in Trakheesi against the trade licence, not through a separate application.
How do you look up a brokerage's ORN?
- Open DLD's Licensed Real Estate Brokers list and choose the Offices filter.
- Search the brokerage's name. Each office result shows its "Office Number", along with its contact details.
- Or use the Dubai REST app, which DLD lists as the other channel for the licensed brokerage offices list (DLD, Licensed Real Estate Brokers Offices).
To check that the trade licence itself is still valid, DLD also has an office trade licence search on its website and in Dubai REST.
How is an ORN renewed?
Through the licence. DLD's FAQ says licences issued by Dubai Economy renew automatically, while licences issued from free zones must be renewed electronically through Trakheesi (DLD FAQ). Agents' cards depend on it too: DLD says a broker card's validity is linked to the validity of the trade licence (DLD, card issue).
